We use screens all day, every day. Our eyes aren't designed for it.
We now spend more than 11+ hours a day, on average, in front of digital devices. It’s one reason why more than 60 million people worldwide suffer from digital eye strain. Blue light exposure from prolonged screen time also contributes to 1 in 3 people globally not getting enough sleep.
You may experience the following while using screens:
Eye strain
& dry eyes
Headaches
& tension
Sleep cycle
disruption
Mental &
physical fatigue

FAQ

Of course! If you have 20/20 vision and don’t need to wear prescription glasses, you can still suffer from digital eye strain due to prolonged screen use. Blue light blocking glasses can help to make looking at screens easier on your eyes by eliminating glare and filtering out high-energy visible light from your screen. Think about it this way: sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun's UV rays, computer glasses protect your eyes from the blue light from screens.

Blue light is not just emitted by computers and LED lights - it’s actually all around us. In fact, sunlight is the main source of blue light. When you walk outside during the daytime, you’re exposed to blue light.
Light is measured in wavelength, the units of which are nanometers (nm) and millimetres (mm). Visible light has a wavelength range in the region of 400 to 760nm, with high energy visible (HEV) light falling somewhere between 400 - 500nm. It’s called high energy visible light because the blue/violet band of the visible spectrum has a particularly high frequency.
Our eyes are not really designed to be good at blocking blue light. That’s why blue light has been linked to something called Computer Vision Syndrome, a condition which encompasses a range of symptoms including headaches, blurred vision and eye strain amongst others.
Blue light can also disrupt your natural sleep cycle. Blue light tells your body when we need to be awake - at sunrise for example. However, when you are exposed to artificial blue light it can affect your physiology in unnatural ways. Studies show that looking at screens can interfere with the production of melatonin, the chemical responsible for helping you sleep.
-
Glare emitted from different sources of light such as digital screens, artificial light and even sunlight. It usually makes you squint your eyes and can give you a headache - especially if you view bright screens in a dark room. It’s one of the main causes of Digital Eye Strain (DES) and can lead to symptoms such as dry eyes, blurred vision, and headaches.
LUMES lenses have an Anti-Glare Coating which reduces the buildup of reflections on the front surface of the lens and prevents 99.9% of glare from entering your eyes. This keeps your eyes feeling relaxed and sharpens the optical quality of your screen.
Tip: we always recommend doing computer work in a brightly lit room to reduce the unpleasant effects of glare.
