How we filter blue light differently

Our blue light filtering technology is embedded into our lenses. It's why LUMES filter 90% of the highest intensity blue light without distorting color.

CR-39 lenses with embedded blue light blocking technology
Anti-Reflective/glare coating
Virtually clear lens

Anti-scratch lenses

Why our lenses are better

The same way that sunglasses shield your eyes from harmful UV rays, LUMES blue light glasses can help to protect your eyes from screens.

Advanced blue light filter technology

Our top-of-the-range CR-39 lenses block up to 40% of blue light at 430nm and up to 100% at 350-400nm. The blue light blocking technology is also embedded in the lenses, instead of using a coating that deteriorates over time.

Premium Anti-glare protection

The most effective screen glasses combine blue light blocking lenses with an Anti-Reflective coating. This reduces glare from bright lights and monitors to reduce eye fatigue.

Virtually clear lens, no color distortion

Our lenses have no noticeable yellow or orange tint so you can feel comfortable wearing them anywhere. Plus they don't affect the way you see the colors on your screen.

High-energy visible light (HEV) blocked by LUMES

Studies show that high-energy light frequencies around 400-430nm are linked to digital eye strain. LUMES lenses block a significant percentage of these frequencies to reduce eye strain, headaches and other negative effects of prolonged screen use. Our lenses fully block the very highest energy light to reduce the chances of long-term conditions such as macular degeneration or cataracts.

Why we filter blue light

Our eyes are not really designed to be good at blocking blue or high-energy light. That’s why blue light from screens has been linked to Computer Vision Syndrome or Digital Eye Strain, a condition which encompasses a range of symptoms including headaches, eye strain and sleep cycle disruption.

Potential side effects from prolonged digital screen use:

Eye strain
& dry eyes

Headaches
& tension

Sleep cycle
disruption

Mental &
physical fatigue

Why does blue light harm your eyes?

Light is measured in wavelength, the units of which are nanometers (nm) and millimeters (mm). Visible light has a wavelength range in the region of 400 to 700nm, with blue light falling somewhere between 380 - 500nm. It’s sometimes called high energy visible light (HEV light) because the blue/violet band of the visible spectrum has a particularly high frequency. Our eyes are sensitive to this high-energy light. This is especially true when we are exposed to it for prolonged periods of time such as when we look at digital device screens.

Why we eliminate glare

Glare emitted from different sources of light such as digital screens, artificial light and even sunlight. It usually makes you squint your eyes and can give you a headache. LUMES lenses have an Anti-Glare Coating which reduces the buildup of reflections on the front surface of the lens and prevents 99.9% of glare from entering your eyes.
